The United States based arm of Liberia’s largest opposition political party, the Congress for Democratic Change-USA (CDC-USA) has joined the mother party in Liberia to mourn the loss of Madam Anna Moneh Quiwah, mother of the party’s political leader, Ambassador George Manneh Weah. CDC-USA is deeply saddened and expresses its heartfelt condolences to Ambassador Weah, his siblings, family members, and the entire CDC family for this irreplaceable loss. The US-based CDCians have pledged to work collaboratively with the party’s leadership in Liberia to support Ambassador Weah and his family, during this difficult time of mourning.

Immediately upon hearing this sad news, the Diaspora arm of the party, CDC-USA, under the able leadership of Chairman Isaac Vah Tukpah, Jr., convened an emergency meeting to discuss the matter. The National Executive Committee then appointed a five (5) man committee headed by Partisan Rufus Darkortey of the State of Ohio, with CDC-USA National Elected Officers serving as Advisors. The committee is charged with the responsibility to support the bereavement process which includes working in alliance with the leadership of the mother party in Liberia to ensure that Ambassador Weah is adequately succored during this difficult time of loss.

The leadership of CDC-USA is calling on its entire membership and chapters throughout the United States and all other Diaspora communities, to observe a week-long mourning period from March 6-12, 2013 in conformity with the declaration made by the party’s National Executive Committee in Liberia. Chairman Tukpah is calling on all members, affiliates, and sympathizers of CDC within the United States to email, text, and/or call Ambassador Weah as an expression of our deepest sympathy. The Chairman is also calling on all members to be ready to attend coordination meetings upon short notices.

CDC-USA describes Ma Anna, as she was affectionately known, as a true Mother of the nation and a unique contributor to the Chronicles of Liberia, simply by being the progenitor of our beloved political leader whose enormous and world renowned accomplishments are in the annals of history, world-wide.
