A U.S.based Non Governmental Organization, the United Bassa Organization in the United States(UNIBOA) has presented an amount of $3,000 USD to Grand Bassa County Superintendent,Julia Duncan -Cassell as part of its donation towards the Sea Erosion Disaster Fund set up recently as a result of a devastating sea Erosion that rocked South Eastern Liberia.
In a Press Release to Liberian Media in the United States,UNIBOA President Alfred Dousuah said the money was intended to assist citizens of lower Buchanna in Grand Bassa county especially those in Barlewreh Town and other nearby areas who were directly affected by the sea erosion that engulfed citizens in several parts of the county in August where homes were awashed leaving many people homeless.
Superintendent Duncan-Cassell commended UNIBOA for its kind gesture and urged other Liberian organizations in exile to follow suit as people back home in Liberia rely heavily on their relatives abroad for such assistance in times of disaster.
She pledged the money would be used for its intended purpose. The $3,000 USD was wired to Liberian through the Western Union Money Transfer.
The Organization, initially known as Bassa Progressive Lead when it was established in Brooklyn,New York in 1973 by a group of Bassa citizens in America, has eleven chapters in the United States.
It comprises the political sub-divisions of citizens of Grand Bassa,Margibi,Rivercess and Montserrado counties resident in the United States. The Organization engages in social, humanitarian and community development programs coupled with the promotion of peace, unity, progress and social awareness among Liberians in the United States.
