This whole battle to remove the speaker is not about due process or the rule of law. The reality here is the speaker has only been accused , not found guilty of any crime. Besides, there is no law in the legislature that says a Speaker should be recuse himself if he is indicted by a court. Even in the greatest democracy, the United States of America, President Bill Clinton was impeached, the same as indicted- but never asked to recuse himself as president.
Simply put, the fight to remove Speaker Tyler has nothing to do with good moral conduct and nothing to do with the interest of the Liberian people; it is simply about passing a budget that will create the last chopping for officials of the regime.
For example, if we look at the propose budget, there is increase in the amount of local travel for Vice president Boakai. The increment is intended to provide money for the vice president political travelling across the country.
Also , it is reported that the President instructed all her cabinet officials to create loopholes in their various budgets, as a means to get money to finance their 2017 elections.
So the goal is to remove Speaker Tyler- so that the speaker will not preside over the budget hearings. Because if Speaker Tyler presides, the regime fully understands their campaign finance budget will not pass. So the goal is to remove Speaker Tyler , then Edwin Snowe and others will have complete control over the budget and do as they please.
